i spent the whole day at home today. lishan jolene and i finished watching romanticprincess. the kissing parts were horribly terrible. the two leads couldn't kiss to save their lives.

half of palmerston's gone home. and i'll be off to sydney in a couple of days. i really can't wait! lishan booked the free shuttle to chadstone on wednesday so we'll be going to shopping there! i cant wait for that either.

no matter how many times i've put myself in his shoes and tried to see things the way he did, and even for the times i asked without getting the answers that satisfied, i know deep inside who You are to me. there were many times in the past weeks that i thought i didn't know, that i thought i was on the other side. there were a few times when i feared that i would hear things that would lead to confusion, or disappointment, like yesterday. i guess it was also this fear that made asking so tiring. and amidst all this mess that came and went without me knowing, i'd only looked for you twice. last night i turned desperate and You heard. and i thank You for speaking to me today. when you reminded me once again of what You said before i came -- to trust.

autumn cleaning!

yesterday was spent doing lotsa cleaning.

1) i did two weeks worth of laundry and drying which amounted to 4 dollars. i usually dont spend the extra 2 dollars on drying cause i hang dry my clothes in jolene's backyard. but i think it was like 10degrees yesterday so i didn't wanna spend half an hour in the cold hanging up wet clothes!
2) i washed two pairs of shoes in the frigid air which made my hands turn so cold that the water from the hose felt warm!
and as i was washing and talking to jolene at the little backyard behind jolene's room, someone came in to ask if i was around. and jo said "no she's not at home" and i went "YES IM HOME I HOME!! who's that??" and i got up to see who was at the door.

yeongshen: wanna go safeway?
(at this point i recalled the countless plastics bags in his room which i told him to return in the plastic bag recycling bin at safeway. he'd just given me a you're-so-weird kinda look)
me: YA!! YOU STILL HAVE YOUR PLASTIC BAGS TO RETURN!
ys: ya i brought..(and he took out a bag of plastic bags from behind him)

which totally cracked jolene and i up. :D looks like he's a pretty fast learner!

so we went to safeway and on the way back, we passed this little nondescript cafe which i never noticed before and outside was placed a plate of two salmon wraps wrapped together in cling foil together with a sign that said "FREE".

me: what's that?
(we both realise that it was free salmon wrap!!)
ys: what's wrong with it?
i looked in to the shop through the glass and the man inside saw confusion written across my face and came out. he told us to feel free to take it. and i asked him "haha... um.. what's wrong with it?" and he said that they were closing up for the day and had stuff to clear.

so we took it home and when dinner time came (not too long after) i went to the dining hall to find yucky dinner - rice and veg and PORK with RED sause. so i happily went back and took the salmon wrap outta ys's fridge! yumo!

later last night, ys came up to look for me to return my waterbottle and do some reading as i folded my fresh laundry and kept them into my wardrobe and cleared my room up a little. somehow we ended up giving my room a make-over! a tiny one. i'll post pictures up soon enough.

shucks. i think i've got cramps. TAKE IT AWAY!!! :(

goldfish conversations

yeong shen: how much is a goldfish?
(haha how would i know how much a fish would cost!)
me: um. two dollars.

*yeong shen came knocking on the door
"elisa did you take my wallet?"
"uh.. no... but i hid it..?"
"where is it?"
"in your last drawer"

end of story? nope.

*after a minute, yeong shen came knocking again
"elisa, lets go buy goldfish"
"NOW?"
"ya."
"hahaha.. ok"


so elisa and ys left palmerston in the quest to consume a goldfish. that's right. consumers consume. five mintues after leaving home, he told me that we were taking a tram to victoria market to get it. but of course, due to the exhorbitant prices of public transport tickets, i protested and told him that we were walking there. it wasn't a very good idea considering the fact that it was drizzling rather heavily and the wind was so chilly. today's temperature ranged from 11 to 18 degrees celcius. coldest we've gone since i came. but then again, walking to the vic market was a good idea because it was a chance to burn off the bar of marsrocks we shared earlier on.

"it's a freaking one hour walk. we're taking the tram"
"no we're walking"
"let's tram there la.."
"no lets walk"
blah blah blah.. and so he followed as a led the way to vic mark.

i must say the walk there (though fatally freezing and dangerously slippery and disgustingly wet)was pretty amusing, filled with arguments of why dota is childish, and why getting a goldfish is weird and how getting a fish from fish and co is more worth it.etc

nearing the market, we stopped so i could ask for directions.
nice angmoh lady: oh just go down this way and turn right. but the victoria market is not open today because it's a wednesday and the market's closed on wednesdays..
*yeongshen and i looked at each other and thanked the lady. bummer! we braved the cold winds and wet skyjuice for nothing.


BUT WAIT!

yeong shen was insistant that he wanted a goldfish. so we walked into melbourne central in hope that some bright soul would lead us to a pet shop. when we were inside the big mall, he suddenly got a bright spark. "i remember a petshop here. but i don't know if they have fish". so he led the way down to the basement where true enough there was a pet shop! we made a beeline for the fish tanks near the cashier. to his great disappointment, there wasn't a single goldfish in sight!
"oh look, an angelfish"
"yeah but it's not fat and round. i want a puffy fish"
"excuse me, do you have a puffer fish?" (to the shopkeeper)
yeongshen stared at me as though i'd gone off my rocker which almost sent me into fits of laughter.
shopkeeper: excuse me?
me: oh, do you have goldfish?
and he pointed to another tank where there were enough goldfish to feed a hungry putu.

the amusing part was how ys chose his little friend. this quiet guy who ever speaks unless spoken to, whom i've only had a couple of real conversations with, and who doesn't express his feelings much, got pretty excited and started pointing out the goldfish he thought were cute.
me:how about THIS! (a small koi-coloured one with white black orange and red bits)
him: oh! that's quite nice!! okok!! i'll get that one! eh, this one's also quite cute!
me: yeah get that one.
.
.
.
.
and when he finally decided..
ys: okok keep looking at it! keep looking at it because i want that one.
so i kept looking at it while he went to get the shopkeeper dude.

choosing the fish bowl was even harder than we thought. but i shall spare us all the details.
so what we thought was going to cost 2 dollars cost 10 aussie bucks and that precious little thing had a whole bowl-of-a-house (plus fake plant plus water cleanser plus anti-bacteria tablet plus fish food) that cost poor ys a whopping 80+ dollars.


WOOHOO!!

so we carried our little friend home and he spent another eleven plus on cups of hot chocolate from kokoblack on the way home :) YUMO!

and we had another little argument over dota again.
ys: guys playing dota is like girls going shopping
me: no, even WOMEN go shopping but you don't see men playing dota.
ys: but that depends on how you define men
me: those who don't play dota :)

holidays call for a photo update!

EXAMS ARE OVER FOR ELISA! haha that was me studying in the sunny part of the park on a freezing cold easter holiday. the sun never felt betteri worked hard at home too!
and so did my freaky creepy housemate LISHAN!
joseph leighland lee har kao. haha.. sam told me they used to call him har kao in p6. so funny. so lets go back to 3 weeks ago. lishan and i found a stranded safeway trolley on the way back from carlton gardens and lishan came up with the idea of returning it because there was a 1000 dollar prize to be won if we returned stray torlley! (according to her) so we pushed it all the way back to safeway (she refused to be in the picture). and when we reached, we read the poster asking for lost trolleys and realised that all we had to do was call and inform of the trolley's whereabouts! dang. owell. fortunately, in australia, nobody cares what you're doing even if it is the strangest thing in the world.
and of course, jolene lisha zelia and i had our fair share of chocolate eggs for easter! not only did we receive a try of cadbury chocolate eggs from chen yi, we also bought a cadbury rose egg from safeway! it had chocolate sweets rattling inside :D we were all on a chocolate high after that and played charades till we laughed our throats sore.

and when the going gets tough, or when the fat start accumulating, we go for walks along lygon street and... camwhore a little. ;)

shopping headache

today's shopping took place at the veggie and fruit sections of the victoria market.
it was SUCH a pain. how should i know what a good apple looks like? or a good quality peach? and how do you choose which eggs to buy? i left that all t lishan and zelia. my turn will come when it comes.

me: chu phu.. what's te bu??
chups to lishan: eh what's tebu?
lishan: dunno..
chups to me:i dunno..
me: eh chu phu! you very DUMB LEH!!!
lishan to me: eh, so what's te bu?
me: i dunno!
lishan: cheyyyy.. then you also very dumb wad??

an eventful night

last night as lishan, peishan whitney and i were getting ice-cream, the smell of smoke just filled the shop. we went out to look at the whole street from newzealand natural to another lygon eatery was really smokey. the firemen was there.. the police.. ambulance.. and of course the kpo crowd. there was quite a big commotion and they'd blocked out part of the street as well.

so anyway the 4 of us found ourselves in 7/11 after a fruitless search for pies. and as we were looking around, this big group of coloured teenage boys entered. while two of the headed to th back of the store, the rest crowded round the cashier and said something to the asian pos register guy. we realised something was wrong..
"no it's not right.".. "hey you two! come here!!".."no you come here!"
the register dude was just shouting and the group of guys were mucking around and the four of us just stood there in silence till i decided we'd better get out before stuff got violent.

so the 4 of us headed for the door but realise it wouldn't open. we were all trapped inside the store together with the people who were trying to rob/steal. i was so freaked out. then one of the black boys said "let them out"
and the register dude went "ok i let them out. you come here!"
the doors opened and we left as quickly as our hearts were beating.
then we saw the group of them leaving the store behind us.

so freaking scary. thank God we were safe. it didn't seem real at all.

about half an hour later we headed to safeway and saw the same group of guys heading out. they passed us as we walked in.. then we saw another of them running out of safeway. nothing happened.. we went in.. did our shopping and as we were about to leave we saw the guys outside still outside safeway. i think all of us were terrified cause no one said anything.. we just looked at each other and turned back to safeway to "do more shopping". it was so super scary.. esp for me with my sprained ankle cause if they were to do anything, i wouldn't be able to run.

well.
that added a little spice into my night.

i just lay on the floor moaning in pain then after awhile it became so funny.

it's like dying because you choked on a vitamin c tablet.

well biggest loser yeah, but at least i'm a funny one.

so jolene rushed to get ice for my ankle and i went

invariably, today's been the coldest day we've had this week. i'm terrified of anything lower than 25degrees celcius.

*oh psych presentation went well! well enough considering the fact that i only finished typing the script at 2am this morning after finding out that both widya and i couldn't open our script files that hilda sent us. cheers!

yeah and im satisfied..

i think house 4 is the least happening of all the houses in palmerston except for the first unit and the two other units outside the main compound. haha but im satisfied. i don't know what the happenings in the other houses are.. but i think it'd won't be my kinda thing. jolene lishan zelia and i have our fair share of love and laughter! :D really thank God for that.

the more comfortable im in this house, the more the rest of the house seems to be taken over by me! (or my things rather) shucks. i don't know who will wanna be my housemate next year. better start praying. haha..

well jo and lishan decided to cook their own dinner tonight.. which i don't think was a lot. i wouldn't be full on self-made dinner because

1) at this stage.. i think all we can make is instant noodles and sandwiches and open a can of baked beans

2) i can't even cook instant noodles. (and i don't like baked beans.. yucka!)

so the story continues with me and zelia walking to lygon street in t shirt and shorts in search of the bestest creamy pasta ever which we finally found at universal pizza. we shared a plate which was enough fill the both of us to the brim. afterwhich we popped by new zealand natural to get a banana smoothie! (my absoloute favourite) we shared that too. we shared everything today. we shared lunch - a huge plate of indian food. no wonder people put on weight when they come over to aussie! the portions are so HUGE!!!

ok good night sleep tight. im gonna start dreaming of tmr morning's math tutorial. ugh. at least school ends at 12.30 :)

saturday at home

i quite like days like today. i went to bed only at 4am last night cause i was spilling my thoughts out to andrew over the phone. woke up only in time for lunch today. the whole house4 was so quiet i thought everyone had gone out. apparently everyone was either sleeping or in their own rooms using the com.

i finished my first assessed task for EAP this afternoon. :D so shiok.

anyway after dinner, lishan jolene zelia and i watched Matilda on tv. winson and chu phu came to our house uninvited and got hooked on the moive too. such a heartwarming show. when it ended we all headed out to safeway to get food. we got a rattling crunchie easter egg too! i can't wait to try it with the rest tmr! hahahaha.. oh wait. the highlight of our little trip to and from safeway was when we walked past this posh little italian restaurant. lishan and i immediately zoomed in to this really cute aussie dude with his family. hahaha and we went high for a bit. (not that i can even remmber how he looks like now, but it's fun going crazy once in awhile) see.. you don't need alcohol to feel good or high. :)

draining

i got back from supper with my ocf cellgroup not too long ago. su-ann drove me back because it was so late.

this past week's been slightly draining. i keep questioning and thinking.. and i sometimes i can't stop myself from slipping into ****'s shoes and start wondering what he questioned and what made him doubt. and i've been thinking a lot about who he is (a wondering sheep? one that was snatched? a bad tree?) and what happens next.. i keep wondering. and i still am. i met up with pastor V for dinner yesterday. we talked for like 3 hours but there are still questions i don't kknow how to ask. i felt a little drained during ocf today with all the thinking that's been going on, but talking to dong over supper taught me stuff too. i learn sthg new every week! i feel quite a bit better now. :)

i gotta stay home this sunday afternoon cause sam-ee's friend is coming over to pass me some warm clothing in preparation for my war against autumn and winter (then spring) cold.

anyway, yisheng has gone back to singapore with a couple of easter eggs from me.. ok more than a couple. haha.. but i couldn't get as many as i wanted to also because yisheng would have had loads of trouble getting them SAFELY back to sg. i think he was stunned at what i got already. sorry yish!

anyway i think there's something going on in the house unit next door. it's a girls house. (palmerston house is a stretch of 3-storey house units side by side). when i came home, a few of the guys were standing outside acting so weird and i was like "what's going on?" and daniel went "nothing nothing.. just go back" kinda thing. and the next moment one of the other guys came outta the house and told me he got drunk earlier on. i really really thank God that my housemates are so awesome. well at least they don't tempt me to drink or smoke or club.. three things that i've promised myself not to get involved in this year. all im saying is that you can drink, smoke and club but jsut dont offer me a stick or a drink outta politeness or anything.. or ask me if i wanna follow you to some club.

and i don't believe abishek mama is leaving for america!! how can it be! abi is SO part of ACSIS! ....although he can be so irritating at times.. but how can abishek leave!

yeah the phonecall really made my day. back to my History of Ideas readings.

yes the doctor's in the house! heh. i met yisheng today. he came to crash psych lecture! :) then he followed me back to palmerston for lunch. he stayed for a bit then went to meet his sister. and GUESS WHAT!!

yish brought along a wonderful bright yellow frisbee!!

was supposed to go to mumba today.. but i stayed behind reading and picturing in my mind how such a large crowd wanted to listen to this one man speak that he had to go on a boat and speak from there. there, he told stories of seeds, wheats, treasures and waxed hearts.

"when he found one of value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it." that is how precious.

weekend at glenwaverly

zelia and i went on a two-hour journey to glenwaverly yesterday afternoon. well.. camwhoring help ease our boredom a little :)) haha.. zhaoming's parents took us from the train station to citylife church. service was really good.




we then followed zelia's family friends to a small barbeque.. just like the last visit to glen, we were very well taken care of and very well fed. haha.. we spent the night at aunty ong's place after three rounds of rumikub at aunty mock lian's place. (she's auntty ong's daughter) a really nice family. haha. oh and ze and i camwhored again!

there's a waterfestival carnival thing called mumba or sthg going on right now. but i think i'll have to give it a miss cuz i have to catch up on my school work :/ lessons have been sufficiently entertaining/interesting :D

my math tutor totally resembles this person back in singapore.

so freaky he deserves a post about himself in here.
it's not that he's freaky, but the resemblence. i couldn't help staring at him the whole time he was speaking and only looked away a couple of times when i felt it was too painfully freaky.

and it didn't help that i had quite a lot of questions to ask.. i hope he doesn't think i'm hitting on him.

super sundae

i reached home at about ten today. jeremy (jansen's jeremy) conveniently came over to use the internet for a bit. anyway, here's how today was spent.

as usual.. i dragged myself outta bed and prepared to go to cross culture church with zelia.
along the way we met a dozen other palmerston girls who were headed in the same direction so we all sat together. from where i sat i smelt a very familiar cologne - uh, shall not divulge anything else.

zelia and i went to do a bit of shopping after that where i got 2 tops which amounted to a grand total of..... twenty bucks. and i used the atm for the second time. heh. not bad eh? i'm slowly overcoming my money-pressing-phobia. :D

back in palmerston, i did a bit of reading for accounting, then left to meet jeremy in the evening where we walked around and talked a lot. then my sharp eyes caught sight of TEE LIN LIN!! whoahoho.. she was equally surprised to see the both of us as we were to see her. but she was even more surprised to see jere cause tim koh told her that i was coming but she didn't know jere was. we didnt talk for long cause she had to rush of to meet a certain someone. so then jere and i went to meet grace and dawn (grace's housemate). we all went to this thai place for dinner. it was terribly filling.. but that didn't stop us from walking along lygon street to KOKOBLACKS.
jeremy took the longest time ever to finish a cup of mochohotchocolate.. well he couldn't finish it. and it was a tiny cup. and grace and dawn took even longer to finish a shared platter of [a small scoop of chocolate icecream, a teenie bit of chocolate mousse, a tiny cookie the size of a fifty-cent aussie coin, two pieces of chocolate and a small chocolate muffin smaller than a chicken egg.] haha.. they showed me the true meaning of "savouring".

i need some exercise.

the term begins

i'd wanted to go to the library before afternoon lecture today.. but i woke up just in time to wash up and rush to the union house for lunch and Fair Dinkum where i signed up for the Outdoors Activities Club and the Cooking Club.

outdoors is super cool.. we get to do stuff like skydiving or rock climbing or horse riding or even taking a trip down to tasmania :) haha.. losta stuff requiring lotsa money............ so i think i'll.. select.

i know you're laughing at the fact that i joined cooking club even though i cant cook. well it's BECAUSE I CAN"T COOK that's why i joined it :) heh. cool stuff!

well i havent been hanging out with a fixed group of people because everything's too varied. guess this is a good time to know even more people. heh. bush dancing was ultimate fun today. but i think bush dancing three years ago at CTSS still owns this flat. the grand buffet hall was a little too small for our whole cohort. but still, it was good :D
