un.comfortable - confessions.

trying to be funny/friendly but coming across weird because their social perceptions are different from mine.

haha works both ways i reckon. i suppose i make some people feel uncomfortable just as how other people make me feel uncomfortable.

the worst part is i feel like telling them what they do is inappropriate but i end up telling other people what they do is inappropriate. meh.

shall i tell them?

my friend the clown

Incredible sense of freedom. that will surely last just for a tick.
I've just submitted a 4000word group report which I had to re-write almost everything the rest did.
it was a nagging pain in the neck. but come to think of it, i dont think it cost me too much brain work, just concentration and.. a drive to read on. and on.
Perhaps the business consulting report was good training. i really enjoyed that one. haha.

anyway, exams are approaching. this is the last period of my life (for the forseeable future) that i will be talking about exams.
i dont really have much to say so you can stop reading here. i just wanna type.

gwen and i went to princes park this morning. good on her for sticking it out. we also stopped to do sit ups. i was helping her hold her feet down as she attempted a sit up. and the usual chatty self that she is was very excited about doing a sit up because that was the only item she could score an A on at NAPFA.
She got into the starting position, and when she pulled herself up she screamed "OHH MY GOOODDDD!!!"


"what?? what happened?"

"PAAAIINNN!"

and we both burst out laughing. ROGL. rolling on the grass laughing. literally.

bring on the luxury goods!

seriously i dont understand the hype with luxury goods. i'm typing up this retail marketing assignment and all this talk about luxury brands is making me s.i.c.k. maybe one day i'll get my own chanel and delete this blog post.
i vaguely remember posting about luxury a few posts back. sorry to repeat. trying to get it outta my system.
actually.. you can now call me a hypocrite. i just got a luxury hair service. permed my hair for 150AUD on sunday. arguably, it's below average rate here in melbourne, but to a person who pays $3.50 for a haircut in singapore ie daddy, this is one heck of a luxury. well, right now i have no defence. HAHA. imma just eat my words.

do what you want

Lakkis. here are the associated things that come to mind when i think of him.
- a certain resilient commitment to doing what he wants
- boldness in doing things the unconventional way
- a strange kind of.. exploring direction. not that he knows where he wants to be, but he seems very intentional about the directions he takes in exploring the possible paths that lead to the place that he could possibly want to be.

i supposed i find that intriguing because none of my peers seem to have that kind of vibe about them even though some of us talk about it a fair bit.

many in my circle of friends wanna do what we really wanna do and we're all about that. do work that you enjoy. and we can go on about dreamy ideas - some of which have a lot of substance in them.

then today a question suddenly hit me - is all this talk about "doing what you want" a symptom of something non-so-good in our generation? ok fine dont even talk about generation. it just hit me that we keep going on about doing what you want and following your heart, and that it all might just seem pretty individualistic. i'm wondering what will ground us in some solid foundation that will help up take off. sometimes i seems to want to fly before i've build the plane. and building the plane's lotsa hard work and discipline. perhaps then what our parents' generation has been telling us about working hard still holds true after all. maybe not completely true. working hard doesn't necessarily give you the results you're after. maybe it's about grounding ourselves to be disciplined, tenacious. and grounding ourselves in a strong value system that will undergird what we do, how we do and why we do. with good direction.

well crafted emails

takes me ages to craft an email. some emails need craft, others just need you to imagine yourself talking, then transcribing everything you say. but the satisfaction gained from a response acknowledging it is sweeeet. crap. i better reply some emails.
ok crap i have a lot of study to catch up on tonight too. meh.
on a sidenote, i had a very interesting conversation with a couple of my retail marketing assignment group mates on luxury goods this evening. they're both fans. i'd rather go muji style - the no brand brand. hahaha.

lunch with brains

D sent me an article on graduates from elite colleges yesterday which i agreed was pretty good.

follow-up thoughts only came today LOLLLL slowwwww..


when you think of lunch with some sort of elite college graduate, also think of why the "elite" label has been placed on the college (ie university) or what that label means to that person. does it mean he will be looking out for things you say that can make him think "ahah! see, that's why you didn't go to an elite college." or "ahah! Now i know not to hire this person".


ah well. i suppose people in australia would consider my university an elite university. i personally do not quite swing that way. in fact, i wouldn't consider myself anywhere near elite material. and i now recall back in the day where i'd be the only one from a government school (albeit SAP) amongst the RGS girls and ACS boys who would be chanting their school cheers at jono's birthday party. yeah i suppose i felt slightly displaced. but coming back to the present, perhaps i need to trust afresh the one who gives me my identify.
