4. every sunday, we dont just look for a convenient time to do to church. we gather to remember and shape our lives in light of an event.. Jesus' resurrection. although his death accomplished much,  it was the day he was resurrected that changed the way we see the world.
5. what is a mission worth living for? (you could also ask: what is a mission worth dying for?)
6. some people view a successful life as leading a satisfying life with little regret, no grudges, and having given a  decent shot in pursuing happiness. some wanna make a name for themselves - but im guessing that's driven by the desire to be known and to know another in a real, tangible way (which may have little correlation with how famous you actually are). what's the kind of success you want for your life?
7. parents know it when it is their role to tell their son what to do. then there comes a point where the son no longer speaks to them as an instruction-taking son, but a parent-honouring, choice-making man. this is one of the first things i believe in for myself and i'm asking for your blessing.
8. attention to detail:  getting up to get tissues for sue-lee in the middle of a bible study,  getting a fork for me the moment i enter with a bowl of rice and chicken wings, water for gavin as he coughs away kinda unnoticed.

15. 28/10 "it looks like you have chosen." i feel like i have chosen but i dont dare to face the choice i have made. (and i struggle to remember what the choice was now. i dont think i want to remember what i was thinking then.)
16. note to self: check out erasing hell by francis chan - dunno if it's good.
17. if the bible is your diet then make sure what you read is lighting you up. if you don't have an idea lighting up your head every week then you haven't eaten.
18. you need a reason to stay alive. you don't need a reason to not die.
19. one night he told me that everything he studies is in his hair, that's why he doesn't cut his hair before his papers. and we ended up reading on samson, which was also the story that came up in the sermon the following day on 21/10. haha.

34.  2 chr 7:13. God is the one who sends natural disasters, and He is also the one who can heal a land from natural disasters. Yet whenever we think of disasters we don't naturally associate it with God. Do we believe that these are also brought by God?  If we do, then we also do believe that he can take it away. 1. we take our land and safety for granted. 2. we don't believe that God has a part to play in nature and we think he is absent. 3. we have come to accept that these things just happen and we just have to suck it up. Change the way you think.

44. in John 9, he doesn't even try to explain why the dude was blind. it was neither his parents nor himself. it is what it is, but God can use this for good and He does. his blindness was also an opportunity for God  to show His Healer character, as much as it was an opportunity for the blind man to see God's goodness in his own life.  He's interested in entering the situation, taking whatever is evil and bringing life back. do you believe in the son of man? Dan 7 imagery. 11/11/2012
45. these are the questions they asked: when we pray do we then expect money to drop from the sky? and if we pray, do we need to do it again? ..... so how much of this is what we understand to be true christianity and how much of what we do is liturgy?
