2008 big picture
wouldn't you like to see what the writer saw in Jesus?
"We desperately need fathers who will build a foundation of love, character, skill and vision for the next generation"
"Ultimately, at the core of our dilemma, we lack credible, visionary leadership. Who, in the midst of this mess would dare to stand up to lead? Who, of the many power hungry leaders around have a vision that is worth following? And who, with their vision, have personal credibility and sufficient competence to actually help us believe in them? Where can we find leaders who are not just doing their job, but who, as one of us, actually love, believe and dream together with us? We groan, with all of creation, waiting expectantly for true 'Sons of the Creator' - real human beings who carry the heart of our Creator for our world - to rise. "
"In scouring the pages of our tumultuous history as a civilisation, the greatest and worthiest leader that we could find, amongst all of the great revolutioniaries, teachers, kings and poneers of our last 60 centuries was a Jewish tradesman from the Middle East called Jesus, the Christ."
"We live in a world today that, more than ever, needs the Leadership of Jesus Christ once again."
" Most of the western world only knows Jesus as a religious icon of the Western church with its traditions and self-help' solutions - and its financial scams and sex scandals. But few have been confronted with the vision the counter-cultural methods and the personal commitment of this Leader to our planet and our health."
"Most of the eastern world only knows Jesus as another good luck charm with its superstitious formulas and its additional group benefits. But few have been confronted with his ig picture perspective, or his selfless others-first approach to life. Even the bloody significance of his cross has been lost and domesticated into a sweet story of charity at someone else's cost."
"We have enough information around us to make us uncertain of the few truths that we already know. we have had enough disappointments to make us deeply cynical about the future. We have certainly seen enough suffering to make s deeply self-centred when it comes to our own survival and satisfaction. What we need today is a representation of the Love that Jesus had that inspired him to pour himself out for us. We need to see him with fresh eyes the Faith that He had that empowered him to walk out onto water. We need to find the Hope that he had that filled him even when death crowded around his doorway."
