a wintery day in summer
Gosh it’s 0206hr Sunday 7th march as im typing this. Today was one really happening day. I like! Haha.. it started out with the OCF picnic at carlton gardens which was not bad. Well, i have to admit that i was not really present because someone wanted to talk, and i had to also leave early. Anyway gotta cut long stories short now cause im exhausted.
Went to vic mart with my housemate to get $30 worth of groceries then had to rush off to meet a group of OCFers who were rockclimbing at where the Verve is. Haha gotta say that that was refreshing cause it was something new, and challengingly fun. What was even more refreshing though, was that when i was at the top of a wall i heard the sound of metal hitting against metal, like someone had turned on an enormous ancient machine that hadn’t been properly oiled. I thought “ok.. maybe they’re running huge machines behind the walls..” then as i sat on my harness waiting for dong to let me down, i looked out the glass wall (not climbing wall) that overlooked swanston street and i saw huge balls of ice hitting the roads. And i went “HEY DONG IT’S HAILING!”
Initially, nobody bothered very much about it, but when we realised how huge the ice balls were and saw tables and chairs being blown aside on swanston street we stopped climbing and just watched. Sticky’s sister was busy taking pictures of the storm.
And guess what, it wasn’t even forecasted to be stormy today.
After rock climbing a few of us headed for dinner. Eddie joined us and he told us about the hail being the size of golf ballzzzzZZZ. I reall wouldn’t be surprised because from up on the rock wall each ball of hail was so clearly visible it didn’t look the least bit like rain. Apparently the water went knee high at the Crowne. The basement at QV was closed off for a bit as well.
It felt like all that happened within a span of 10 min. Well, 15min tops. It just came so quickly and suddenly some parts of the street were already flooded.
Mandy and i headed to the Kensington house after dinner to just chill and watch movies. We were.. kind pleasantly surprised by what we found in the driveway.
REALLY COOL stuff.
Eddie looked at it and said “ YOU THINK THIS IS BIG???” . lol. We were so excited each of us took out our cameras/phones and snapped countless pictures. Then we rushed to the backyard and found even more hail. After the excitement died down you’d think we’d be ready for movietime... but surprise surprise.. we spent the rest of the evening filling up 3 buckets of water just from using towels to soak up water from eddie’s carpet.
Water had seeped in from the balcony and completely wet his whole room. It was like.. you enter his room, and you realise that the carpet is wet.. you look down and you see water between your toes. HAHA. Ok sorry. Not very funny, but.. yeah that was amazing! By the time we filled 3 buckets, we decided to give ourselves a break and save the flooded garage. Yupp. But actually.. i really enjoyed myself. I wouldn’t want it to happen again obviously, but i’d rather be soaking up water from eddie’s carpet than watch 3 movies.
It was a great night though.. cause we headed to macdonalds to treat ourselves after.. and still managed to catch a movie. :D
So tired though. It’s 2.45. better go to bed now.
